Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Accountant to support a growing, private-equity-backed commercial services organization. This role is essential in strengthening financial processes, improving scalability, and supporting operational and investor reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong construction accounting experience, analytical ability, and a continuous-improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Maintain accurate job costing and WIP (Work in Progress) schedules across multiple commercial projects.
  • Perform daily cash management and cash reporting.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
  • Support milestone billing, service billing, and customer invoicing.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for multiple locations or business units.
  • Prepare financial reports for internal leadership and private-equity stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and construction-industry accounting standards.
  • Support acquisition integration, including systems, processes, and reporting alignment.
  • Partner with operations and project management to ensure accurate revenue recognition and cost tracking.
  • Manage fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditures.
  • Assist with tax filings, including sales & use, property, or other required returns.
  • Support external audits and lender compliance reporting.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Participate in ERP upgrades or system transitions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction, roofing, or project-based environments.
  • Experience in a private-equity-backed organization strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Proficiency in construction accounting software (Sage Intacct, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial modeling or dashboards is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with acquisition integration and financial due diligence.
  • Familiarity with private-equity reporting, KPIs, and investor expectations.
  • Knowledge of subcontractor compliance, lien waivers, and insurance tracking.
  • Strong attention to detail and proactive problem-solving approach.
